If your current cooking setup has the range sitting in a cabinet or countertop cutout, we recommend replacing that range with another slide-in range. While slide-in ranges will do fine in a freestanding arrangement, the reverse is less true. ![]() ![]() Freestanding ranges usually have a back-mounted control panel for the same reason. Freestanding ranges often have larger lips around the edge of the cooktop to corral any crumbs that would otherwise decorate your floor. Slide-in ranges are meant to have their sides hidden by the cabinetry, so the finish typically isn’t as pretty on the sides.īecause slide-in ranges sit flush with your countertop and don’t have a large lip around the edge, they're easier to clean. Because freestanding ranges are visible from all slides, they have a more finished look. Slide-in ranges sit flush with your countertops, while freestanding ranges are meant to sit on top of any surface. What Is the Difference Between Slide-In and Freestanding Ranges? Consider, too, that dual-fuel and induction ranges can be more expensive than traditional gas and electric ranges, depending on the feature set or manufacturer. However, they require induction-compatible cookware, and you may have to modify recipes accordingly.ĭepending on your cooking powers and priorities, one of these fuel types might be more appealing than the rest. Induction: These boil water incredibly fast and allow for both extreme high and low cooktop temps.Dual-fuel: Dual-fuel ranges combine an electric oven with a gas cooktop, allowing for faster boiling times as well as even cooking and baking.Electric cooktops' coils allow for more even heat distribution. Electric: Electric stoves take longer to boil water, but they produce higher cooktop temps compared to induction or gas ranges.Due to the flame location, gas ovens can also cook less evenly. Gas: These offer lower cooktop temperatures but can boil water faster than electric ranges.AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.What You Should Know Before Buying a Dual-Fuel Range What Are the Different Types of Ranges? ONCE THEY GOT YOUR MONEY THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICE. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST and once you have paid all this money for their appliances you will find you would of been better of purchasing a 1000 dollar stove from lg or samsung. Then after 4 weeks of this they send me an email saying to fill out the claim for, take pictures and send the damage part by mail to them so they could investigate. I went additional 3 weeks being on hold and transferred from person to person. I called the company who directed me to thermador. Finally after he repaired it the same day I noticed he put a large scratch and ding on my 7500 dollar stove. He arrives again only to state the part he was given was wrong. He replaced the part but said that something else was wrong. After a total of $3200, the problem ended up being a $50 part which the first Thermador technician should have known.įinally, after I called several times and waited hours on hold each time a tech was sent out. Well, it turned out Thermador sent the appliance with liquid propane orifice which was too small for natural gas. However, he checked the gas orifice on the range to see if it were actually for natural gas or liquid propane. ![]() After 1.5 hours, there was still no change. I then contacted another Thermador certified technician, who told I needed to purge the lines with high pressure hydrogen at $400 per hour. I then contacted a plumber to see if the line to the range was the right size, he said I need a 1" line because of the connections to the furnace, hot-water tank and fireplace. I did and they checked the pressure from the outside meter, and noted that it met the 4psi requirement. But he said I need to contact my gas company, because that was the problem. A Thermador certified technician, said it was the regulator and replaced it for $600 charge. From the day we moved-in, the flame on the range has been low and could not figure it out. Original Review: A Thermador stove top came with the house we purchased in 2020. ![]()
